Personal Statement
Back when I was a young, burgeoning musician, I was very fortunate to have met Ms. Desiree (CEO & Founder of 4Get-Me-Not.org). For as long as I can remember, performing at her events was such a delightful experience, and her amazing work with the elderly has been a true inspiration both as a musician and as a person. I still vividly remember all those smiling faces, the expressions of those hearing the beautiful sound of the violin for the very first time in their lives. As a musician, I learned so much about how music & the brain are intrinsically connected, further establishing the significant role that music plays within all of us. I am deeply honored to host our annual Summer Chillout Concert, dedicated to 'Chocoholics,' and connect all of our chamber members from across the world for this remarkable, singular cause. Once again, Ms. Desiree is giving us an opportunity to utilize our musical talents in a more meaningful and inspiring way! Aarav Dayal (Violin, Dubai, United Arab Emirates)
I am 11 years old and have been learning the violin for 6 years. I am currently a student of Mr. Riad Kudsi at the Dubai National Conservatory studying Level 5 of the International Music Study program, Premier Music College of Prague. I am a member of the 1st violin section of the Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra (EYSO) in Dubai which I joined in 2017. We have had the opportunity to play to audiences across the UAE, performing for (and meeting) HH Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum the Ruler of Dubai, HE President Moon Jae-In of South Korea, HE Noora Al Kaabi, HH Shaikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan and several other UAE and international dignitaries.
A highlight of my experience with EYSO has been performing alongside Elli Choi, a violin prodigy, in November 2019. My musical achievements include representing my school at inter-school music competitions. In 2019 and 2021, I was a Top 5 finalist in the GEMS Aspiring Musician of the Year competition. In 2019, I won the Grand Prize at Dubai National Conservatory’s Emirates International Peace Competition, where competitors from across the GCC are invited to participate. As part of the grand prize, I was awarded a scholarship for the Premiere Music College of Prague summer course. There I, accompanied by EYSO, performed a solo at the Mirror Hall, Clementinum to a public audience. In 2020, I was awarded first prize in the Solo and third prize in the duet categories at the International Myron Poliakin Violin Competition, Ukraine. Besides music, I love solving different versions of the Rubik's cube, being in airplanes and airports and trying out different kinds of food. I enjoy playing and watching cricket, and have recently started learning golf.
Personal Statement
The Covid-19 pandemic has affected billions of us, and is a time to support those who are in need. Music has healing powers, and the Chocoholics initiative, with the Gulf Chamber Orchestra and 4get-me-not.org, who are organizing the Summer Chillout 2021 Global Concert to help those who lost family members due to the pandemic is an initiative that I am really excited to be a part of. Last year when most of the world first went into lockdown, I kept my family and friends entertained by sharing 100 videos of performances that I put together over 100 days during that time. My grandparents in particular were most happy and would look forward to watching my performances every evening as they were confined to their homes. So when I heard of this concert, I really wanted to make even more people happy, particularly given the difficult times that people in India and so many other countries are going through at the moment. I take pride in being able to represent my country and am thankful for the privilege to be a part of this initiative.

Personal Statement
Ever since beginning to learn piano from the age of five and a half, I had always thought of music as a source of entertainment for myself and a way to take my mind off other things in life. However, over the past few years I joined the Gulf Youth Chamber Music Society, and was given the opportunity to participate in charity concerts for the Emirates Autism Society, and volunteer to teach basic music theory and piano to a group of children aged 4-12 at a low-income school in Dubai, which allowed me to perform and produce music for a very warm and welcoming audience, whilst contributing to the ones in need in society. I learnt how music was a great way of meeting new people and can often lead to great friendships, and I am incredibly grateful to be able to be part of events like these.

She has participated in the Junior Fine Arts Festival for clarinet, and the III International Competition for Musicians, coming 2nd place for piano. Personal Statement
Music has been an incredibly important part of my life. Unfortunately, not everyone has the materials and knowledge to be able to express themselves through music, as I have been able to. Through Gulf Youth Music Chamber, I lead an initiative to seek out volunteers, gather materials, and create lesson plans to teach music to a group of children aged 4-12 at a low-income school in Dubai. Through this project, I brought people together to share my love for music and offer musical education opportunities to children. I look forward to continuing to spread my love and passion for music through GYCMS.

I am very fortunate to be attending a school that has great resources for the arts which has facilitated a lot of my love and passion for music. I am truly grateful for the many opportunities I have been given because of music that didn't just help me grow as a musician, but as a person. I hope and strive to have music constantly be a part of my life and will continue that through the GYMCS.

United Kingdom
Tan Caner (Piano, London, United Kingdom & Dubai, United Arab Emirates)
My name is Tan Caner, I am a university student who studies Music and Politics in Royal Holloway, University of London. I have lived in Dubai for 10 years and always participated in 4getmenot events ever since it has initially opened itself to more members. I am a pianist, and I have a classical music education which I obtained in Emirates National Conservatory, and with its orchestra, the Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra, (EYSO) we also engaged in charity organizations and autism fundraiser events with our Orchestra mates/musicians. I have also, secondarily, a Jazz education, which also came in fairly handy in these organizations' events. I had the chance to have the most Jazz experience by playing in these events. That is why, although Jazz is not the primary type of music that we played, the most significant and the most enjoyable type that I played, and the memories of playing Jazz in these organizations are the memories that stick with me the most. They were all absolutely a blissful experience.
Personal Statement
When I was in Dubai, almost the majority of my music activity, besides my classical music education, was volunteering and participating in 4get me not events. First of all, beyond all my other musical, personal, social experiences and feelings about participating in events like these, I must state first of all that I feel very honored to be participating in charity and fundraiser organizations, as charities, helping, being of service for an awareness organization, and practically engaging in any form of community/social support, since this is, in my personal belief system, extremely vital and an essential action to do.

Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Nicholas Baik and I have been playing violin for around 8 years. I grew up in Seoul, South Korea. Music entered my life to change it for good. I learned to love and care about the violin. Violin taught me self-confidence, discipline and perseverance and made me a lot of friends. I am grateful for the patience and respect that my teachers, Ms. Kim and Mrs. Shin have demonstrated when studying the violin. I have constantly explored ways to participate in festivals or concerts with a great cause behind them. Although the recent COVID-19 pandemic has made it very difficult to physically perform in the concerts, it is still great that I am able to share my passion for music virtually. I am greatly honored to be able to participate in this concert! I hope you enjoy my performance!

Personal Statement
In light of the past two years, I was immediately drawn to the idea of a concert that would soothe and remedy our hearts and minds amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a true honor that I could be a part of the performance, especially as it would be my first performance for a cause bigger than myself. I hope that this concert can bring you all a moment of serenity, and together, we can endure and overcome the remaining days of the pandemic. Thank you.

Personal Statement
Performing music is such an uplifting experience but is unmatched by the deeply rewarding feeling when performing for meaningful causes. It was always such a wonderful and memorable experience performing with GYCMS and First Key Initiative for 4Get-Me-Not whether it was for World Alzheimer’s Day or for an elderly group. It is truly heartwarming and inspiring when the audience’s feedback reinforces how impactful music is. The experiences taught me the true significance and healing powers of music and just how many people it can benefit.
